Powis Castle

Today we went to Powis Castle, a National Trust property in Wales, near Welshpool (website). This castle, originally built in the 1200s, began its life as a medieval fortress.  Summer in the UK is not like the summers I grew up with in Ohio; you never know whether to wear a t-shirt or bring your jacket, or whether to bring your sunglasses or umbrella... you just have to be prepared for any circumstance.  Today was one of those days. As we arrived at Powis Castle and walked to the bottom of the 28-acre gardens, it was sunny with puffy white clouds.  Once to the far end of garden about 20 minutes later, we were caught in a down pour.  Luckily, we were prepared.
