Ellen turns 11 Months!

Ellen turns 11 months old today!  It's amazing to think that in only one month, we'll be celebrating her 1st birthday.  She seems to be following in her mommy's footsteps (or not) by only now beginning to be able to move herself around, not by crawling, but by bum shuffling, or scooching her way centimeter by centimeter across the floor. When she really wants to reach something she will reach as far as she can in front of her and move her legs to catch up with her hands, grunting all the while.  It's so cute, and we're so proud!  Just the other day, she also stood while leaning on the activity table.

Another thing we're happy to report is that the sleep training we worked a few weeks ago has worked!...almost. She now only wakes twice a night. I admit, I feed her each time, so that she will fall back asleep, so that we can fall back asleep. Over the next month, I hope to completely wean her from the night feeds.  Which brings me to another point...weaning.

I do plan to discontinue breastfeeding her some time around her first birthday, though it will be really hard.  She really enjoys "ma", and I really enjoy having my baby so close to me, but I understand there comes a time when it has to stop.  Good luck at explaining that to her, though!  When I feed her at night and she falls back asleep in my arms, I look down at her and look at her like it was the first time, taking in all of her features, beauty, cuteness and am saddened to think that our baby girl is no longer a baby, but will be a toddler very soon.  Lord willing, there will be so much more to come!
