On Saturday, we drove to the fake village of Portmeirion on the Welsh coast (
website) about 2.5 hours from Shrewsbury. Why is it a fake village? Well, it was only built to replicate a village on the Mediterranean coast and to prove that it was possible to build beautiful buildings on the rugged coast of Wales. The site was used as a backdrop for the British TV series called
The Prisoner. Besides some Italian-style buildings, a few shops and a hotel, there's not much else to see. We wound our way from the entrance at the top of the hill down to the path along the coast and back up again.
