2:30AM

I spend most of the day - and most of the night - looking at Ellen. I am constantly amazed by her... even at 2:30 this morning, when these pictures were taken. When I feed her in bed she is usually mesmerized by the lamp next to the bed, which casts a soft glow on her face... so pretty. Ellen is 7 weeks old now and weighed 10lbs., 4oz. yesterday at her doctor's appointment.

I try to take a walk most days of the week down the country lane near our house for two reasons - to get in some light exercise and to get Ellen to sleep... a constant struggle.  Although it's May, it's still relatively cool.  The hat Ellen has on below was sent to her by her great grandma.

For a couple of weeks now, I've been meaning to take my camera with me to take a picture of the beautiful yellow fields of rapeseed in the fields around our village; I finally managed to do that today.  This is the country lane we walk down when we take walks.
There are fields of rapeseed all around these parts, but they are even more numerous in Gloucestershire, the county we lived in before moving here to Shropshire.

Rapeseed blossoms up close.
