Olympic Flame

Ellen and I were so excited to watch the Olympic flame come through Shrewsbury today. As you can see in the photos below, Ellen could hardly contain her excitement.

Crowds of people lined the streets of Shrewsbury. We stood towards the end of the route since it was closest to our house and the center of town would have been too crowded.
 Ellen showing her British pride!
 Here comes the entourage!
 Olympics 2012 BMW relay car...
...and bus. After this there were sponsored buses from Coca Cola and Phillips pepping up the crowd.  It was so loud, I don't know how Ellen slept through it.
Ellen got her picture taken with the torch bearer who ran in front of us only moments after this picture was taken. I don't know his name or why he was nominated since there isn't any information on the torch relay website.  8,000 torch bearers are relaying the Olympic flame throughout the UK until the start of the Olympics at the end of July.
 The flame is being passed.
 There it goes! So exciting!

The next stop was Cressage, then on to Much Wenlock, the village where in 1850 the modern day Olympics started and are still held annually... only 15 minutes from where we live!

"Wenlock" is the mascot for the 2012 Olympic Games
