Ellen turns 7 Months

Ellen turned 7 months old today!  The biggest developments over the last month have to do with her mouth.  She babbles "Da-da-da-da" most of the time she tries to talk, but other combinations of vowels and consonents occasionally come out, such as "meeee" when she's tired and "ba-ba" when she's playing.  Also, two little teeth have cut through her bottom gums only days apart.

She's beginning to prefer to be sitting up rather than laying down to play, but we alternate them so she can still explore both positions.  Her daddy is such a funny guy and can make her laugh very often, especially at the table.
Such a goober!

Tid Bits

Last Thursday I took a few videos of Ellen just as we were finishing supper. Half way through Jeff started waving to Ellen so she would wave "bye bye" to the camera, and I think we actually caught her first wave on camera!  She loves to laugh at her daddy at supper... he's so funny.

Ellen and I attend Rhythm Time every Tuesday at the Theatre Severn, where mums sit with their babies - some are crawling around - and sing, tap rhythms, beat different instruments, dance and interact with the other babies.
Each baby gets a maraca to shake at the beginning of the class. Today we were given large Lego to stack to music then knock over.

A large colorful parachute was laid out on the floor for the babies to touch and look at.
We then did some arm to opposite foot reaches to the music.  The mummies are encouraged to sing along to the songs so the babies tune in to our voices and (hopefully) pick up more of the song and the rhythm.

Helping Mommy in the Kitchen

Since having a Bumbo seat the past few weeks, Ellen has been able to help me while I'm doing dishes or making supper.  I can hear people gasping at Ellen being on the counter - "Quick! Call the Health and Safety Police!" and while they're at it, they may as well call the "White Poison (sugar) Patrol", too. But as I've been told many times, you have to do what you have to do (to stay sane).  I love that she can be so entertained by just watching me while gnawing on a slipper and a bit of banana bread.

Here are a couple pictures I took on Monday, too cute not to post:

Sitting up

There isn't too much to report in the Bolton household recently. Jeff is away today and tomorrow for training.  Ellen and I just returned from a walk and of course we got caught in the rain at almost the furthest point from home. I'm afraid that's how it's going to be from now through... well...that's just the way it is here. However, last night I felt what I believe to be a little tooth in Ellen's mouth. I've only been able to see it once since she doesn't let me pull down her bottom lip.  So that's quite exciting.

Here's a video clip I took last week of Ellen (who else?) sitting up, gnawing her new books.

"Ah-Da-Da"

"Ah-da-da-da..." is the most used phrase around the Bolton household this week and Miss Ellen is saying it!  Since Tuesday she has been loving her new found "words" and babbling them especially when Jeff or I are talking.
